How Does Figma's Creator Tools Allow Creators to Get Paid? Here's How.
The New Figma Creator Tools Revealed
Figma announces a multitude of new features for its collaborative design platform. If you're a content creator, there’s good news for you: you can now sell and buy files, plugins, or widgets directly within the Figma community, and access new tools to track your earnings, balances, and transactions. Figma explains in their announcement what has changed: “It was already possible for creators to sell their content on Figma, but purchases were made through third-party sites, which created confusion. Moreover, free and paid content weren’t clearly distinguished from one another. Now, clearer labeling will allow you to easily identify free or paid resources.”
A Grant Program Is Also On the Table
In addition to the Creator Tools, Figma has introduced a new grant program, called the Figma Creator Fund, aimed at encouraging creators to produce more free resources, such as widgets, plugins, and other files. Figma clearly demonstrates its belief that design should be accessible to everyone, and they hope that this program will help achieve this ambitious goal. So, for passionate creators, this is a great opportunity to contribute to the community. Even if you don't produce free resources, you can still take advantage of Figma’s new features to sell and buy files, plugins, and widgets. And don’t worry, Figma also explains how to receive the grant: “Creators can apply for a grant for their free resources directly on the platform, and each month, Figma will award grants to the 3 to 5 best resources.”
