Together, let's take action against prostate cancer.

In France, prostate cancer is the leading cancer in men. It accounts for 25% of all male cancers. Prostate cancer is responsible for more than 8,000 deaths per year. (in metropolitan France, according to 2018 Public Health statistics). This cancer is the third leading cause of death behind lung cancer and cancer of the large intestine. Prostate cancer occurs in about 66% of cases in men aged 65 and over. The number of deaths concerns 79% of men aged 75 and over. Today there are means of screening before identifying the disease so that it does not spread. Early screening for prostate cancer allows treatment to begin earlier and potentially reduces the risk of mortality.

What is Movember?

The Movember event is associated with the prevention and fight against prostate cancer as well as testicular cancer and psychological problems like depression. Originally from Australia, the event created in 2003 is now global and is officially organized in more than 20 countries. Symbolized by a blue ribbon, we recognize the men participating in the movember because they start the month shaved. Then, during the month of November, they must let their mustache and only their mustache grow, no beard or goatee for these gentlemen.

Fight against prostate cancer

Movember aims to raise awareness of prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental disorders such as depression that are often a taboo subject for men. Movember also aims to raise funds for medical research. The objective is also to prevent the risk of the disease by advocating early detection for men. There are two screening methods for prostate cancer, the digital rectal examination and the PSA assay which is done via a blood test. In the event of an abnormality, a biopsy of the prostate can determine the presence of cancer.

Talk about it, testing saves lives.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in France and represents the third leading cause of cancer death in men. It is therefore important not to be afraid to talk about it and to get informed. Adopting the right reflexes such as screening can increase the chances of recovery and save lives.
Regardless of your age, if you notice changes between two exams, talk to a professional. Movember lets you join communities of “bros” with whom you can talk about your concerns about prostate cancer.

The #Movember hashtag gives you access to information about Movember, you can share and react on the Hashtag throughout the year.

A single donation can make a difference.

By donating to Movember, you can save lives. Your donations fund solutions to improve the lives of patients with prostate or testicular cancer.

Donations also help to promote communication on mental issues affecting men and women. Namely that 3 out of 4 suicides are committed by men. Mental problems are still too taboo in our society, we have to move things forward.

You can support the fight against cancer of the prostate, testicles or mental disorders by making a donation directly on the Movember website
